De-junking The Kitchen
Many thanks to Annie's Homegrown for sponsoring today's post and inspiring me to try their delicious products!
Out with the old, in with the new. Lately I've been really considering on eating healthier by focusing on ditching processed foods and buying organic. The first thing that pops up in my head about buying organic products are the prices. I'm pretty sure I am not the only one that thinks about the prices when buying organic. However, when buying Annie's Homegrown organic products I realized that buying organic can be inexpensive. Plus, you get what you buy!! If you want to eat healthier expect to spend more, at least it will be worth it! There are many reasons why I'm going through my kitchen and kicking the junk to the curb.
If you know me, you know that I am guilty for eating a whole bag of powdered donuts in a day. Now, don't sit there and think I'm crazy! I know I can not be the only one that has eaten a bunch of junk food in a day. That's the thing, junk food can be so addicting! Everybody knows it's not good to be addicted to something that will cause a lot of health problems down the road. Why not get addicted to snacks that are healthy!! If you're a chocolate lover like I am, then you will love Annie's Homegrown organic chewy chocolate chip granola bars. They are so yummy and will satisfy your sweet tooth. Just because it's organic doesn't mean it's not satisfying!
Another reason why I want to get rid of all those unhealthy snacks in my kitchen is because of my daughter. I breastfeed and she's not getting all the nutrients that she needs. Processed food has a bunch of pesticides and cancer causing chemicals in it which can end up in my breastmilk! It's easier for adults to get rid of toxins but not so much for babies and toddlers. I also want to lead by example, if I am eating healthy foods then she will also want to eat healthier. If she grows up eating organic food, then she won't have a problem eating healthy when she gets older. Every nursing mother needs to consume a lot of calcium, however a lot of babies end up being allergic to dairy products if you consume too much of it. So to get my calcium I can eat Annie's Homegrown organic yogurt tubes.
Annie's Homegrown has a lot of other certified organic products; like cereal, fruit snacks, and mac & cheese! Not only does eating organic helps you, but it also helps the environment. If you're looking for some tasty snacks that are inexpensive and healthy, I would check out all their products here. If you have a child that you pack lunches for, you should check out their lunch box recipes as well! Thanks for reading!
