The Best Dad Award Goes To
Happy Father's Day to all the dads! I want to dedicate this post to my father, Elston Johnson. I'm grateful I was able to grow up with my dad by my side. Without him, I wouldn't be the person I am today.
My dad was the first person to teach me how to draw. He can't draw, but he helped me acquire the skill. I remember him teaching me how to look at an object and draw it. That's where my journey as an artist began. He also taught me how to drive. When I got my license in college, he gave me his car and went without a car for weeks. Thank you, dad, for doing that.
Thanks, padre, for being supportive in everything I wanted to do. He's the reason I joined the step team and cheerleading team in school. I literally had to beg him for me to join because my mom wasn't going for it. Haha. My mom would always say no, and I would run to my dad with sad eyes, saying, "pleaseeee dad!!" He usually gave in. Looking back, maybe my mom was saying no because she knew we surely didn't have the funds for it. So thanks dad for letting me join those teams because if I never joined. I honestly wouldn't be the cheerful, confident person I am today.
There were so many enjoyable times we spent together. Like walking to Ingles when it snowed and almost busted our asses. We would play that silly hand game anytime we were in the car. The time when I was young you let me steer while driving the truck. When the family was on vacation, and we were trying to teach you how to swim. You couldn't reach the edge of the pool and kept flapping your arms everywhere!
If you've met my dad, then you know how terrific he is. He's a pleasure to be around. Hey, Dad, do you remember that time you made mom laugh so hard, you made her drink come out her nose? Haha. My dad is such a hard worker. He would commute 2 hours every day back and forth to work. It's obvious he always wants the best for us. Oh, and He's an awesome cook! Have you ever had his hot wings? If not, then you're missing out!
Anyways dad, I just wanted to say thank you for being a fantastic dad. I love you and Happy Father's Day!!
